VISION Australia clients in the Geelong region can look forward to better services with the completion of a major refurbishment of the organisation\u2019s Geelong office.<\/p>\n
The two-storey facility in High Street, Belmont includes much-needed upgrades to its reception area, assistive technology store, offices and a client recreation centre.<\/p>\n
Vision Australia\u2019s general manager for Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia Helen Steenbergen officially opened the refurbished office on Monday, and said it was the first Victorian office to feature Vision Australia\u2019s new colours and logo.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a real flagship for us now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Steenbergen, who was based at the Geelong office while she was regional manager, said it was good to be back.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an exciting time for Vision Australia and for Geelong \u2013 this refurbishment is a combination of quite a few years of discussion about services into the region and a real commitment to the Barwon as a whole.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to be staying here in this building, and I am delighted to see the renovations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vision Australia client Brian Hunter, who was part of an informal advisory group that assisted with the planning on the redevelopment, also spoke at the opening.<\/p>\n
He said the group weighed up central Geelong as a possible new home for the office, but there were several factors in favour of not moving, including car parking and the creation of an outdoor area for the clients\u2019 guide dogs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
