THE City of Greater Geelong will create more all-day parks at the river end of Moorabool Street in revisions to its Better Bike Connections project.<\/p>\n
The latest changes affect Moorabool Street between Carr Street and Barwon Terrace, and the community has been invited to provide feedback until March 4 before the designs are taken to the council in April.<\/p>\n
There will also be three drop-in sessions about the project, starting from today (Thursday, February 14).<\/p>\n
In response to traders\u2019 concerns regarding the loss of 47 all-day parking spaces on the western side of Moorabool Street (next to Kardinia Park), the City of Greater Geelong says this will be offset with the creation of other all-day spaces within close proximity to Moorabool Street.<\/p>\n
Reconfiguring parking on nearby Carr and Balliang streets will create 31 other all-day spaces.<\/p>\n
The city also plans to seal a section of Kardinia Park as well as mark out other all-day car parks (near the Senior Citizens Centre), which will create more spaces in this area.<\/p>\n
Other changes to the original plans in response to community feedback include retaining rightturning traffic movement from Moorabool Street into the eastern side of Little Fyans Street (except during morning peak times); and relocating the bus stop so that there will be will be more car parks within close proximity of local businesses in the section of Moorabool Street between Fyans Street and Barwon Terrace.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to hear from traders, residents and everyone affected by the plans for this section of the southern link route,\u201d Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is your chance to provide your comments on the plans before they come before Council for a decision in April.\u201d<\/p>\n
The City of Greater Geelong will set up a booth on Moorabool Street (between the Senior Citizens Centre and GMHBA Stadium) where anyone can come and ask questions today (Thursday, February 14) from 8am-noon, Saturday, February
\n16 from 9am-1pm and Tuesday, February 19 from 11am-3pm.<\/p>\n
