A RECORD number of swimmers competed in the 10th annual Neville Richards Wreck2Reef swim, hosted by the Indented Head Yacht Club at the weekend.<\/p>\n
After Saturday\u2019s wild weather, Sunday dawned with an overcast sky, but with light winds and flat water there were perfect swimming conditions for the roughly 300 people who took part.<\/p>\n
The weather improved further as the sun broke through later in the morning.<\/p>\n
About 80 people competed in the first event, the 2.5km swim, which was in its second year, and most of those then backed that up with the 1.2km event.<\/p>\n
Once again the Indented Head Yacht Club pulled out all stops to provide a relaxed and fun-filled event for all, with a jumping castle and waterslide for the kids, and plenty of food and drink vendors to satisfy all tastes.<\/p>\n
A record turnout of 40 novices took on the shorter 500 metre event, and once again, those under 14 loved the opportunity to dig in the sand for buried treasure after their 300 metre event.<\/p>\n
All funds raised from this event go to supporting the Learn to Sail activities of the Indented Head Yacht Club.<\/p>\n
Without these funds, and the support of sponsors, the program could not exist. Head down any Saturday morning in school terms 1 and 4 and try it out for yourself. No experience or equipment is needed, and all ages are welcome.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, on Saturday, 1,300 people took part in the Flying Brick Bellarine Sunset Run.<\/p>\n
Organiser Dion Milne took to Facebook to congratulate those who tooks part.<\/p>\n
