As we embark on the last week of summer it\u2019s been interesting to share the experiences of local traders and visitors to the coast. I think it would be hard to argue that the summer weather pattern of the this season has been nothing short of sensational and has many saying \u201cthe best for years\u201d. It\u2019s been a bumper year for the coast in so many ways and let\u2019s hope that autumn treats us just as kindly towards Easter.<\/p>\n
In what\u2019s been seen as a great initiative, the organisers of Monday Night Music at the Lorne Bowls Club have been running the Monday Night Market over the past fortnight and the final market is scheduled next week so if you haven\u2019t been, get down on Monday and support this great activity.<\/p>\n
The organisers, respecting the Gadubanud land, have creatively put together a market celebrating creativity, skills, knowledge and passion and promoting environmental sustainability as well as community \u2013 a great initiative.<\/p>\n
Last Thursday, we convened our first Committee for Lorne (CfL) meeting for 2019 and it was so good to see the new faces around the table. With Mary Lush (Friends of Lorne) and Karen Stribling (Lorne Business & Tourism Association – LBTA) improving our gender balance in joining Kate Gillan and Carly Enticott and with Paul Upham (LBTA) and David Worth (Lorne Aquatic & Angling Club) rounding out the new Committee, we have a \u201cfull table\u201d and it\u2019s great to see such a
\nbroad cross section of Lorne continuing to come together as one.<\/p>\n
There are always challenges in pulling a team together and as a town, we are so lucky to have the foundations in place to
\ncontinue to guide the aspirations for our future. We have such a diverse group and there are always views and opinions that
\nare not perfectly aligned, but therein lay the unique dynamic that is Committee for Lorne.<\/p>\n
We know that when individual views differ the underlying respect for those opinions is driven by the passion we all share for our town of Lorne.<\/p>\n
Over the coming months we will be looking to share with you on our website an abridged version of our meeting minutes and discussions, providing another channel to our communication plan.<\/p>\n

This weekend in Lorne we welcome over 1500 budding junior life savers, family and friends for the 2019 Junior Victorian Surf Life Saving Championships on the Lorne beach with competition spread over both Saturday and Sunday. With very little accommodation remaining in town it is sure to be another huge action packed weekend for Lorne.<\/p>\n
