SURFSIDE Dental is putting the final polish on this year\u2019s Surf Coast Relay for Life, donating $5,000 to the group raising funds to offset the costs of staging the major event.<\/p>\n
Relay for Life chair Bob Tyler congratulated Surfside Dental for their generous support and said he was relieved to receive the grant, which would ensure the success of the ceremonies and walk to be held at Polwarth Oval in Torquay North on March 15-16.<\/p>\n
\u201cRelay for Life is a fundraising effort for the Victorian Cancer Council, and monies raised by our teams all goes to that cause.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe $5,000 from Surfside Dental ensures we have the support structure, stage, marquees, and other benefits in place for this great community event.\u201d<\/p>\n
Confirming the sponsorship, dentists Chris Van Ryswyk and Thorsten Dannheimer declared their support for the relay.<\/p>\n
\u201cThorsten and I have been discussing how we could give back to our local community and our decision was made quickly when we heard about Relay for Life from Bob,\u201d Mr Van Ryswyk said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo often, Thorsten and I meet patients who are cancer sufferers, survivors or carers, that we decided sponsorship of an event aimed at helping our community raise funds for cancer research, education and awareness programs had to be the way to go.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of us at Surfside Dental are delighted to be able to help in some way.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Tyler said more teams were registering for the event each week and were well into their fundraising, but he hoped more local Torquay organisations – including service clubs, sporting clubs and businesses- would enter a team in the event and join in the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n
