ANGLESEA<\/strong>
\n\u00bb Salmon continue to be caught off local beaches
\n\u00bb Pinkies are still being caught offshore
\n\u00bb Flathead continue to be scarce

BARWON HEADS<\/strong>
\n\u00bb Snapper and pinkies offshore are still reported
\n\u00bb Flathead reports continue offshore
\n\u00bb Whiting, trevally, salmon continue to be caught in the river
\n\u00bb Salmon off most local beaches.<\/p>\n

TORQUAY<\/strong>
\n\u00bb King George whiting are still being reported in close
\n\u00bb Offshore, pinkies and snapper continue
\n\u00bb Flathead are being caught but not in great numbers
\n\u00bb Squid are still around
\n\u00bb A few gummy shark have been caught offshore
\n\u00bb Salmon catches have been reported of local beaches
\n\u00bb Bream continue in Spring Creek.<\/p>\n

QUEENSCLIFF<\/strong>
\n\u00bb St Leonards has King George whiting, flathead and squid continue
\n\u00bb Clifton Springs, pinkies, whiting and flathead and squid as well as the occasional gummy shark reported
\n\u00bb Queenscliff: whiting, flathead, salmon, squid and an few pinkies have been reported
\n\u00bb Outside the heads, some bluefin tuna have been caught
\n\u00bb The creek continues with reports of trevally and salmon
\n\u00bb The mouth of Swan Bay reports squid, salmon and flathead catches as well as a few whiting
\n\u00bb Point Lonsdale, still trevally, a few whiting, salmon and a few pinkies and squid have been reported
\n\u00bb The White Lady, whiting, pinkies and squid with the occasional gummy shark also being caught
\n\u00bb Indented Head, snapper, flathead, King George whiting, squid as well as some pinkies and some pike.<\/p>\n

TWO people are facing serious charges after a Good Samaritan\u2019s phone call to 13FISH early Sunday helped Fisheries Officers locate an illegal net containing more than 1,000 juvenile Bream a Sanctuary Lakes.<\/p>\n

Victorian Fisheries Authority Director Education and Enforcement Ian Parks said officers managed to release hundreds of live Bream from the net, however nearly 890 were found already dead.<\/p>\n

\u201cA second identical net was retrieved nearby and contained no fish,\u201d Mr Parks said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers later attended a Point Cook residence and allegedly discovered five more nets, which were all seized on the spot along with a 2012 Toyota Camry.<\/p>\n

\u201cA small number of frozen undersize bream were also located on the property and seized.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 29-year-old female and 34-year-old male admitted to setting the nets in the Sanctuary Lakes over the past six months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pair will be charged with using and possessing commercial fishing equipment, taking undersize fish and taking more than the catch limit, and summons to court.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing commercial fishing equipment carries a maximum penalty of six months imprisonment and a fine of more than $16,000.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Parks said these illegal nets were highly effective at catching small fish such as bream and had the potential to cause immense damage to juvenile fish stocks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is great example of the 13FISH number working at its best with the community helping Fisheries Officers apprehend illegal fishers who have little regard for the future of our valuable fisheries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know most people do the right thing when it comes to enjoying Victoria\u2019s fisheries, but it only takes a few wrongdoers to have a serious impact.\u201d<\/p>\n
