CORANGAMITE federal member Sarah Henderson took to the coast at the weekend to make two significant funding announcements for Lorne, including a major grant in excess of $3 million for Stribling Reserve under round three of the federal Liberal government\u2019s<\/p>\n
\u201cBuilding Better Regions Fund\u201d (BBRF). Stribling Reserve received a grant of $3,274,500 for the $6.45 million Stribling Reserve Pavilions Redevelopment Project.<\/p>\n
The initiative will see a new netball pavilion as well as an upgrade to the main establishment which includes a new second level with northern entry, community spaces, commercial kitchen, unisex amenities and new public toilets.<\/p>\n
Ms Henderson said she has \u201cadvocated hard\u201d for the project and that it is an \u201cincredible win\u201d for the Lorne community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project will deliver a state-of-the-art sports and community facility which will provide enormous benefits for the entire Lorne community, including the Lorne Football and Netball Club, the cricket club, the many community groups which use this facility and the school which uses Stribling Reserve on a daily basis,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
As part of the program, Ms Henderson also announced $85,363 for the Lorne Bowls Club to fund a new synthetic green and shade cloths.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will allow the club to compete at a more advanced level and attract bowlers to Lorne to compete in tournaments,\u201d Ms Henderson said.<\/p>\n
The Liberal government is investing $50 million for Great Ocean Road upgrades, $8 million for the Point Grey redevelopment, $250,000 for the international driver safety campaign, $230,000 for Stribling Reserve Lights and scoreboard; and $20,000 for Lorne Bowls Club lights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
