Queens Park bridge<\/strong>remains closed<\/strong>
\nNEWTOWN\u2019S heritage-listed Queens Park bridge remains closed to all traffic and pedestrians after it was damaged by a truck last Thursday. The one-lane bridge \u2013 which sits above the Barwon River and has a low clearance of 4.2 metres \u2013 connects Newtown to Highton via Queens Park Road. VicRoads has advised motorists heading from Newtown to Highton or Belmont should use the Hamilton Highway and Geelong Ring Road. VicRoads has also suggested that people travelling from Highton to Newtown should use Barrabool Road and Shannon Avenue. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time when using these proposed detour options, particularly during school times. VicRoads has said the bridge has suffered significant structural damage and will not be reopened until it\u2019s safe to do so. For updates, visit traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au.<\/p>\n

Bellarine Highway resealing\u00a0<\/strong>begins<\/strong>
\nRESEALING works along the Bellarine Highway from Boundary Road to Grubb Road began yesterday (Wednesday, March 13). During the works – from 7.30am-3.30pm on weekdays and 7am-5pm on weekends – traffic management will be in place. Works will be conducted today (Thursday, March 14) from Twitt Street to Moolap Station Road, Moolap; on Sunday,
\nMarch 17 from Wilson Road to Helm Street, Newcomb; on March 24 from Boundary Road to Wilsons Road and Highcliff Street to Twitt Street, Newcomb; and on March 18-29 from Bawtree Road to Fenwick Street, Moolap, Curlewis Road to Wallington-Ocean Grove Road, Wallington and near the Grubb Road roundabout.<\/p>\n

Selwood to lead the Cats\u00a0<\/strong>for eighth season<\/strong>
\nJOEL Selwood will extend his record as Geelong\u2019s longest-serving captain, as he heads up a sevenperson player leadership group for 2019. Selwood will be joined in the group by Patrick Dangerfield, 2018 best and fairest winner Mark Blicavs, Mitch Duncan, Harry Taylor, Zach Tuohy and new inclusion Tom Stewart.
