THE construction of a new Queenscliff Cultural Hub has received a $1.45 million grant, thanks to the Liberal Government.<\/p>\n
Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson announced last week that the hub would receive the money under Round 3 of the federal government\u2019s Building Better Regions Fund.<\/p>\n
This grant will help fund the construction of a new Queenscliff Cultural Hub, which involves rebuilding the historic museum, library and visitors centre into one integrated building.<\/p>\n
Ms Henderson said the cultural hub would support the borough\u2019s tourism industry through improved visitor information, strengthen Queenscliff\u2019s destination appeal by enhancing the cultural experience, generate further main street visitation and activity to support local traders and strengthen the local economy, and modernise and expand a limited library service
\nby providing additional space for community education, wellbeing and support services and programs.<\/p>\n
The funding follows on from $1.2 million from the state government last September, which built on $450,000 already provided through the Living Libraries program, and the state government\u2019s commitment to redirect $2.5 million from Destination Queenscliff project towards the hub.<\/p>\n
MEANWHILE, earlier this year Ms Henderson launched a petition for a new pool for the North Bellarine.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of people have signed the petition at sarahhenderson.com.au\/petitions showing there is community support for a new swimming pool.<\/p>\n
A community meeting will be held in Portarlington tomorrow night (Friday, March 15) at Parkview Room, Parks Hall, 57 Newcombe Street, from 6pm to 7pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
