PERHAPS the biggest information technology topic of the year will be discussed at the next Bizz3228 networking event, to be held later this month.<\/p>\n
The Torquay-based business group will host DWM Solutions owners and directors Nick and Jeni Clift, who will talk about ransomware and other IT security issues.<\/p>\n
In May of this year 2017, the WannaCry ransomware attack spread through the internet, using an exploit leaked from the US National Security Agency.<\/p>\n
The huge online attack infected more than 230,000 computers in more than 150 countries \u2013 including Spanish telecommunications giant Telefonica and parts of the National Health Service in the UK \u2013 using 20 different languages to demand money from users using cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n
Nick and Jeni Clift have been working together in their own businesses for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n
DWM Solutions opened for business in February 2002, and now provide proactive IT support services for local government, water authorities, education and health organisations as well as small to medium commercial businesses.<\/p>\n
Its clients are located across Victoria and supported with 16 staff operating from offices in Melbourne, Bendigo and Echuca. DWM Solutions relocated its Geelong office to Torquay in January.<\/p>\n
Bizz3228 says the event will be an excellent opportunity to find out more about an area of business that owners and operations may know little about but can have the biggest impact.<\/p>\n
The Bizz3228 event will be held at the RACV Torquay Resort on October 18 from 6.30-8.30pm.<\/p>\n
