THE Anglesea community is preparing to host thousands of environmentally savvy guests and experts at the inaugural Green Living Festival this weekend.<\/p>\n
A Surf Coast Shire sponsored initiative, the event will feature workshops, eco-living displays, special guest lectures and children\u2019s activities, each with a focus on sustainable living.<\/p>\n
Anglesea resident and festival organiser Winsome Coutts said the highlight of the launch would be the addition of three transportable dwellings (known as \u201ctiny houses\u201d), which have been thoughtfully designed using a minimalist approach.<\/p>\n
Other activities, including an open garden, competitions, bike valet and servicing tent, art installations and vegan cooking classes, are all locked in to take over the Anglesea community precinct on Saturday April 13.<\/p>\n
Sally Williams, Brand Power presenter and host of Living Sustainably on 3AW, said the festival will inspire visitors to think about how their approaches to living impact the environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe organisers of this event have to be congratulated,\u201d Ms Williams, a long-time Surf Coast resident, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBringing education and information to people about living sustainably is important because we all have a responsibility to protect our oceans and our environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery little bit counts\u2026 the world will love you for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event will be held at the community precinct (McMillan Street, Anglesea) on Saturday April 13 from 10am-3pm. Entry is by gold coin donation.<\/p>\n
