SURF Coast Secondary College is one of 13 schools across Victoria selected to take part in a travel immersion experience in Indonesia backed by the state government.<\/p>\n
Last week, South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman announced that Year 9 students at Surf Coast Secondary College would be part of the first Victorian Young Leaders to Indonesia Program, giving them a deeper understanding of our closest Asian neighbour.<\/p>\n
The program is giving 40 Year 9 students and their teachers across Victoria the opportunity to travel to Indonesia for six weeks in 2019.<\/p>\n
Students taking part will attend a local school, visit historical attractions and build their Indonesian language skills.<\/p>\n
The program is a key pillar of the 2017 Memorandum of Understanding between Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and the Sultan of Yogyakarta, His Excellency Hamengku Buwono X, to further strengthen the growing ties between Victoria and Indonesia.<\/p>\n
Labor Government is also piloting a Victorian Young Leaders to India program in 2019 and 2020.<\/p>\n
This year, the program will give 40 Year 9 students and their teachers from seven Victorian schools the opportunity to travel to India for three weeks.<\/p>\n
