The Queenscliff Gallery and Workshop has announced it is taking submissions from Australian printmakers for the Peebles Print Prize 2019 (PPP19) competition.<\/p>\n
Following the success of the inaugural event back in 2017, the art house is pleased to continue administering the prize and offer local printmakers the opportunity to showcase their works.<\/p>\n
Named after mezzotint printmaker Graeme Peebles, this year the preliminary selection will be conducted by Graeme Peebles himself alongside the QG&W directors.<\/p>\n
The judges for PPP19 will be master printer Bill Young and Geelong Gallery director Jason Smith. It will also once again align with the Geelong Gallery Acquisitive Print Award.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Queenscliff Gallery and Workshop is happy to continue their support for the Geelong Print Prize with a residency for the 2019 winner,\u201d a statement from QG&W read.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis strong collaboration with Geelong Gallery creates a strong message for Australian printmaking. Together QG&W and Geelong Gallery has purposely aligned the dates of these two prizes \u2013 something that is sure to enhance the exposure, nation-wide, for Australian printmaking.\u201d<\/p>\n
The winner of the PPP19 will receive a prize of return economy airfares, accommodation, one week of art\/print courses, full access with most materials included at \u201cScuola Grafica\u201d in Venice as well as cash. The highly commended award will see the recipient pocket $2,000, while the people\u2019s choice award winner will take home $500.<\/p>\n
Entries are now open and close on June 28. Finalists will be announced on August 2. The exhibition will officially open on September 21, with winners announced.<\/p>\n
