Out of the Darkness combines paintings, fibres, graphics, photography, sculpture and text, to give voice to those men, women and children who have fled persecution and sought our protection.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"imgBox\">\nThe exhibition, which will be at Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall from Saturday February 6 to Sunday February 14, exposes, examines and challenges Australia\u2019s response to their plight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArt has the power to open minds, touch hearts and challenge beliefs,\u201d Cathie Bond, one of the four artists from Queenscliff Rural Australians for Refugees, said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bond created the art installation after being inspired by the words of Martin Luther King Jnr:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDarkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The other Queenscliff RAR artists are Veronika and Keith Quinton and Sue Longmore.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition has been travelling throughout regional Victoria during the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Its return to Queenscliff provides an opportunity for re-engagement and new information on an issue that is fundamental to who we are as a society.<\/p>\n<p>The Out of the Darkness exhibition is at Queenscliff Uniting Church Hall, corner of Hesse and Stokes streets, Queenscliff, between 10am and 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>Entry is free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Step into a labyrinth of white spaces, gentle music, the light of many candles, and artworks that will shock, touch and inspire you, from this weekend.
