On Sunday, Corangamite Liberal federal member Sarah Henderson visited Bob Pettit Reserve to announce the $140,000
\nelection commitment for the purpose-built outdoor stage, which community members have lobbied for under the banner of Jan Juc Live.<\/p>\n
Bob Pettit Reserve is already used as an outdoor venue for locals to enjoy live music, comedy and poetry, and the live stage will be built to provide an undercover stage area and will take into account the natural surrounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cI congratulate the Live Stage Action Group for advocating for a purpose-built stage so that Bob Pettit Reserve can be home to many more community events,\u201d Ms Henderson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery community matters and building vital infrastructure \u2013 whether than be a 50-metre competition pool for the Surf
\nCoast or a $2 million redevelopment of the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club \u2013 is only possible under our strong economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvesting in sports facilities and community infrastructure builds stronger regional communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Henderson\u2019s election commitment came only days after the Surf Coast Shire nominated the $144,750 live stage proposal as one of seven projects it would now consider for consideration in its future budgets.<\/p>\n
Ms Henderson also pledged $114,000 on Sunday for a new community pavilion to be constructed at Deans Marsh Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
Labor candidate for Corangamite Libby Coker was also active over the weekend, committing a further $10 million to build a new Anam Cara House should her party form government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis commitment by Labor is made with the knowledge of the exceptional level of care and service provided by Anam Cara for the region,\u201d Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
