THE Easter holidays saw kids from the Surf Coast have a crack at competing in busking competitions, including Geelong\u2019s Best Kid Busker competition presented by Steve Thew Music in partnership with Central Geelong.<\/p>\n
Hosted along Little Malop Street, Torquay\u2019s Star Lawson won first place against strong competition. Star played on her cajon drum box while singing songs including Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cYou and I\u201d. The judges said Star was a \u201ctrue busker\u201d.<\/p>\n
Star\u2019s win means she will play in front of 20,000 people at the lighting of the Geelong Christmas tree on the Waterfront in November.<\/p>\n
Torquay youngster Finnigan August played at the Kilmore Regional Busking Championships on April 13 and scored first place overall and the people\u2019s choice award.<\/p>\n
The competition was hosted in partnership with the Australian National Busking Championships.<\/p>\n
