May 23, 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANGLESEA<br \/>\n\u00bb Weather has still been poor so reports are more general in advice<br \/>\n\u00bb Still reports of some small salmon being caught off local beaches<br \/>\n\u00bb Offshore when possible reports still consist of a few small pinkies plus the occasional flathead<br \/>\n\u00bb Some gummy shark have also been reported<br \/>\n\u00bb A few whiting have been caught in close along with some trevally and the occasional pinkie<br \/>\n\u00bb A few small bream have been reported in the river.<\/p>\n<p><em>Report provided courtesy the Anglesea Rusty Anglers\u00a0<\/em><em>Angling Club<\/em><\/p>\n<p>BARWON HEADS<br \/>\n\u00bb Still reports of snapper, a few pinkies and flathead offshore<br \/>\n\u00bb Still reports of a few gummy shark<br \/>\n\u00bb The river reporting catches of small whiting plus a few trevally and salmon<br \/>\n\u00bb Still reports of salmon being caught off the beaches.<\/p>\n<p>TORQUAY<br \/>\n\u00bb A few King George whiting in close<br \/>\n\u00bb Some good snapper reports are starting to come in<br \/>\n\u00bb Still the occasional gummy shark being reported<br \/>\n\u00bb Flathead are still being reported<br \/>\n\u00bb Salmon being caught off local beaches<br \/>\n\u00bb Small bream in Spring Creek to be caught.<\/p>\n<p><em>Torquay Tackle and Sports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>QUEENSCLIFF<br \/>\n\u00bb St Leonards has King George whiting, flathead and a few squid<br \/>\n\u00bb Clifton Springs sees reports of whiting, flathead, squid along with a few pinkies<br \/>\n\u00bb Queenscliff has whiting, flathead, pinkies and squid are still being reported<br \/>\n\u00bb The creek some reports of a few trevally<br \/>\n\u00bb Swan Bay is seeing pinkies, flathead and squid near the mouth<br \/>\n\u00bb Point Lonsdale has trevally, King George whiting, salmon, and squid being reported<br \/>\n\u00bb The White Lady is seeing whiting, squid and flathead<br \/>\n\u00bb Indented Head continues to produce reports of flathead, King George whiting, squid, snapper and the occasional gummy shark.<\/p>\n<p>VICTORIA has smashed its previous native fish stocking record by more than a million fish as part of the state government\u2019s plan to get more people fishing, more often: 5.9 million native fish \u2013 including Murray cod, golden perch and Australian bass \u2013 were stocked last season.<\/p>\n<p>Victorian stocking records were broken for several species including 1.85 million Murray cod, over three million golden perch, 287,000 silver perch and 275,000 estuary perch.<\/p>\n<p>This comes on top of last year\u2019s one million trout and salmon stocking, taking the number to nearly seven million fish, more than double the number of fishes stocked under the Liberals in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Lake Eildon received a record 714,000 native fish this stocking season, with 413,800 Murray cod and 300,500 golden perch in the water.<\/p>\n<p>Rocklands Reservoir is another big winner from this fish stocking season, receiving 300,000 Murray cod fingerlings and 300,000 golden perch bringing the stocking total to more than one million native fish in just two years.<\/p>\n<p>Native fish are also being released into new fishing areas, with a string of reservoirs in central Victoria receiving golden perch ahead of being opened for kayak and canoe access.<\/p>\n<p>Barkers Creek Reservoir, now open to paddle-craft, received 30,000 golden perch while other reservoirs soon to be opened to on-water access shared in 209,000 native fish, including Lauriston, Upper Coliban, Tullaroop and Malmsbury.<\/p>\n<p>75,000 estuary perch fingerlings have also been released into the Barwon River near Geelong and 133,000 into the Maribyrnong River as part of a bigger project involving access and facilities improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Closer to Melbourne, other Target One Million stocking commitments are being delivered with 260 catchable size golden<br \/>\nperch and Murray cod released into lakes at Casey Fields and Karkarook in Moorabin.<\/p>\n<p>The record-breaking water by water list of native fish stockings is available at vfa.vic.gov.au\/nativefish2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, if you see or suspect illegal fishing activity any time, phone the 24-hour reporting line 13 FISH (13 3474).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>CLUB CORNER<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you are an angling club and you wish to let people know what\u2019s going on within your club as well as help promote your club, email mybigcatch@bigpond.com and we will post your club news here<\/p>\n<h3><strong>PHOTOS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I would also like to remind everyone to keep those photos coming in of your big catch!
