CURLEWIS Golf Club has teed up a new program that will make the Bellarine golf region accessible for people with a disability.<\/p>\n
Working with GenU and Golf Australia, the club has launched an All Abilities Golf Clinic featuring a ParaGolfer, an all-terrain wheelchair that elevates users into a standing position to permit a conventional golf swing.<\/p>\n
The initiative begins with a free come-andtry clinic on Friday June 7 for golfers with a disability at the Range @ Curlewis.<\/p>\n
Golf Australia\u2019s senior manager of inclusion Christian Hamilton said he was excited the entire region would become accessible for all golfers through the initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the first time we have taken this approach with a partner such as GenU whereby we will be able to make an entire region accessible with the ParaGolfer able to move around local clubs and facilities,\u201d Mr Hamilton said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd we couldn\u2019t be more delighted that Curlewis is leading the charge to get everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
genU chief executive officer Mike McKinstry said the innovative golf machine was an exciting development for golfers who were keen to get back on the course.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re committed to enabling people with disability to live the life they choose, and the ParaGolfer is a great example of this,\u201d Mr McKinstry said.<\/p>\n
Curlewis Golf Club general manager Jamie Brigden said the team at Curlewis were both excited and proud to be offering the first of hopefully many All Abilities golf concepts.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur resident PGA Pro Steve Brodie is a fully credited All Abilities Coach and we are very much focused on inclusion and enjoyment \u2013 encouraging people to discover or reconnect with a game they love.<\/p>\n
\u201cParents, carers and friends are all welcome to come along to the clinic.\u201d<\/p>\n
The All Abilities clinic will be held at The Range @ Curlewis from 2pm to 4pm.<\/p>\n
