AS PART of last month\u2019s National Volunteer Week, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) Barwon South West region is celebrating the outstanding work of the committees of management who manage reserves around the region on behalf of their communities.<\/p>\n
Every year across Victoria, more than 1,200 volunteer community committees donate their time to manage and care for the state\u2019s muchloved public land reserves, coastal areas, and community spaces.<\/p>\n
DELWP has called for nominations for the Committee of Management Recognition Program to recognise the achievements of an individual member, a group of committee members or an entire committee who have made outstanding contributions to the management of public land reserves over the last 12 months.<\/p>\n
DELWP Barwon South West regional manager of land and built environment Greg Leece said the volunteers were working hard all year round to ensure everyone had access to local community spaces.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would like to thank and acknowledge the amazing efforts of all of the 200 volunteer committees of management across the Barwon South West region, with more than 90 people recognised for their outstanding contribution to their local community through this recognition program.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Curdies Inlet and Recreation Reserve Committee of Management
\n\u2022 Dixie Hall and Tennis Courts Reserve Committee of Management
\n\u2022 Dunkeld Public Lands Committee
\n\u2022 Kawarren Recreation Reserve Committee
\n\u2022 Lake Elingamite Foreshore Committee
\n\u2022 Camperdown – Timboon Rail Trail Committee of Management
\n\u2022 Narrawong Mechanics Hall Committee
\n\u2022 Pomborneit Recreation Reserve Committee
\n\u2022 Port Fairy to Warrnambool Rail Trail Committee of Management
\n\u2022 Timboon Recreation Reserve Committee of Management
\n\u2022 Victoria Lagoon Recreation Reserve Committee
\n\u2022 Waurn Ponds Memorial Reserve Committee, and
\n\u2022 Woolsthorpe Hall Committee<\/p>\n
\u201cDELWP appreciates the tireless work committees of management do on behalf of their communities, and we offer our thanks for the continued commitment to managing the region\u2019s valuable public land.<\/p>\n
\u201cNew member interest in committees of management is always welcome. It\u2019s about representing the local community in decision making about important local community assets, so the greater the diversity and representation, the better,\u201d Mr Leece said.<\/p>\n
