Stairs descended from on high at Jan Juc on Tuesday as part of works to improve access at surf breaks Steps and Boobs. The Great Ocean Road Coastal Committee project\u2019s first stage of replacing access stairs, upper tier lookouts and boardwalk sections began in April and was completed in early June. The second stage of the project included the demolition and construction of the lower section of stairs spanning the cliff base and boulders. The Surf Coast Walk was closed this week to allow a helicopter to fly in the new stairs for installation – a technique that will significantly reduce construction time. To ensure the safety of the public and contractors, access to Steps and Boobs is scheduled to be closed until after works are completed.
