Advertisers of dogs and cats for sale or rehoming now must acquire a traceable source number. Previously, there was no way to know the origins of 50,000-60,000 puppies that come into Victoria each year. \u201cThe collaborative effort has resulted in a raft of legislative changes that aim to improve animal welfare in Victoria,\u201d RSPCA Victoria chief executive officer Dr Liz Walker said. \u201cWe encourage everyone considering a new pet to ask the breeder or seller for their source code and look them up on the Pet Exchange Register to check they are operating legally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Apply for an Australia Post\u00a0<\/strong><strong>grant<\/strong><br \/>\nNOT-for-profit community organisations are invited to apply for a 2019 Australia Post Community Grant, with funding of up to $10,000 available to each recipient. The initiative aims to support projects and services that address locally identified needs that strengthen social connections and reduce barriers to participating in community life.
