GREAT Ocean Road Regional Tourism (GORRT) is seeking feedback about the bench seats and QR codes to be installed along the Great Ocean Road to celebrate the road’s centenary.<\/p>\n
The bench seats and QR codes will be located at more than 20 sites along the road and will provide technology to enable visitors to access digital experiences, including augmented reality.<\/p>\n
The project seeks to capture and tell the stories of the road, the people building the road, the industries it enabled and the communities that have grown across future technologies and more traditional mediums such as text and film – all the while responding to the importance of taking time to sit down, and slow down.<\/p>\n
The project launch in September will coincide with other centenary commemoration activities including the production and launch of a documentary on The Story Of The Road and a trail of “pop-up cinemas” showing mini-documentaries.<\/p>\n
The bench seats will be in place for three to six months, while the QR codes will remain in place permanently.<\/p>\n
The project is funded by the state government’s Regional Events and Infrastructure fund, administered by Visit Victoria. GORRT are facilitating the project.<\/p>\n
Other project partners include Regional Roads Victoria, Surf Coast Shire and Colac Otway Shire.<\/p>\n
