ROTARY clubs across Australia are this week encouraging people to find a \u201cplus one\u201d and get someone they know to join the Australian Organ Donor Register.<\/p>\n
With 1,400 people in Australia currently on a waiting list for a lifesaving transplant, and a further 11,000 on dialysis, Rotary sees it as vital that more people join the register.<\/p>\n
Torquay Rotary Club president Kelly Binyon said that despite an overwhelming majority of Australians agreeing with organ donation, only one in three is on the register.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegistration is so important,\u201d Ms Binyon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt leaves your family in no doubt of your decision to save lives as an organ and tissue donor.\u201d<\/p>\n
