ENVIRONMENTAL activists brought a touch of red to the Surf Coast Shire council chambers during the councillors\u2019 meeting last week. Red-wearing supporters formed most of the audience in the public gallery as two petitions with a combined 1,149 signatures were officially received by the council. The petitions ask the council to publicly acknowledge a \u201cclimate emergency\u201d, review the council\u2019s strategic plan, create a foundation for climate emergency action, and implement a climate emergency plan.<\/p>\n
