A PAIR of Grovedale teachers were among more than 400 Victorians lauded for their commitment and dedication to public education last week.<\/p>\n
The Recognition of Service ceremony for Department of Education and Training employees who have reached 40, 45, 50 and 55 years of service in 2019 was held at Melbourne\u2019s Grand Hyatt, where Education Minister James Merlino congratulated teachers, principals, and school administrative and department staff.<\/p>\n
Nicholas Martin was recognised for 45 years of service, while Andrew Telford was recognised for 40 years of service. Both work at Grovedale College.<\/p>\n
The total 408 recipients have devoted more than 17,000 years combined to teaching.<\/p>\n
State Labor says it is investing $30.9 million in teachers over the next five years for professional development, learning and other initiatives \u201cEveryone remembers an inspiring teacher, educator or principal who inspired passions or offered support to reach their full potential,\u201d Mr Merlino said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese award recipients have dedicated their careers to public education, helping thousands of students and multiple generations of Victorians, over many decades.\u201d<\/p>\n
South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman congratulated and thanked all of the long-serving teachers, principals and school staff in Geelong and the Surf Coast on behalf of the many young people whose lives had been touched by their years of hard
