STUART Grimley MP has thanked community members who donated to his office\u2019s St Vinnies Winter Appeal blanket drive. <\/p>\n
Mr Grimley, who opened the doors to his Torquay office last month, said he was overwhelmed by the generosity and high number of contributions from locals. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt has also been great for myself and my staff to meet members of the community through their donations,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been very humbling moving into my Electorate Office in Torquay last month and having a huge number of people come in to say hello or discuss matters in the community.\u201d <\/p>\n
Donations have included wool blankets, hand-knitted crochet items, throws and fitted sheets. <\/p>\n
\u201cWith stagnant wages and rising mortgages, there are a large number of people in places like Armstrong Creek struggling financially,\u201d Mr Grimley said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo reduce living costs, many are not putting their heating on at night. I hope these blankets will go some way to keeping them and their families warm.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
