THIS season the Torquay Tigers Cricket Club will be fielding both junior and senior women\u2019s sides for the first time.<\/p>\n
Women\u2019s cricket coordinator Sarah Boak said she was delighted with where the club was headed.<\/p>\n
\u201cHere at Torquay Cricket Club we\u2019re looking to build a family orientated club and the more women we get for the club, the better it will be for future generations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Club president Rob Dunne agreed the women\u2019s teams would help make the club more inclusive.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt really involves the community more,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Tigers have previously fielded junior sides, but the newly formed Barwon Women\u2019s Cricket Competition offers them their first chance to have a senior side as well.<\/p>\n
The seniors will play one twenty20 game each Sunday over eight weeks.<\/p>\n
Ms Boak said that despite it being early days, she was very encouraged by the amount of people who had expressed interest in the new competition.<\/p>\n
The Tigers are holding \u201cCome & Try\u201d sessions for both juniors and senior women sides at the Barwon Valley Activity Centre on September 6, 13 and 20.<\/p>\n
The sessions will run from 4pm-5.30pm, and open to people regardless of experience and skill. The club will also be holding an information session on Sunday August 25. Junior girls will be from 4.30pm-5.30pm, Senior women\u2019s will be from 5.30pm-6.30pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
