BELMONT\u2019S McDonald Reserve will receive a major upgrade with new junior changing rooms being built.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong Mayor Bruce Harwood said the new facilities would be a significant gain to the South Barwon Football and Netball Club, Highton Cricket Club and local school teams.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn particular, these new changerooms will provide a more modern and welcoming environment for the growing number of women and girls playing football and cricket in our region,\u201d Mr Harwood said.<\/p>\n
There is no set date as yet for the construction\u2019s completions, but the plan involves the existing toilet block being demolished to provide space for the new change rooms.<\/p>\n
Victorian senator David Van said the upgrade would have a profound impact on the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes all the difference to local players to have facilities they can depend on \u2013 and this will elevate the McDonald Reserve\u2019s capacity to host visiting teams for competitive matches.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re proud to invest in the sporting facilities that support regional communities such as Belmont, with more than 2,500 players each year expected to hit the McDonald Reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Federal Liberal and Nationals Government invested $168,000 in the project, while the City of Greater Geelong provided $48,000 and South Barwon Football and Netball Club raised $21,365.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
