GEELONG will host its first ever Design Week in March \u2013 a 10-day community celebration of forward-thinking and the effects it has on people\u2019s daily lives.<\/p>\n

Locked in for March 19-29, Geelong Design Week 2020 will feature workshops, talks, tours and exhibitions that explore innovation, challenge the norm and showcase the region\u2019s growing list of achievements in the design space.<\/p>\n

To get the program off the ground, the City of Greater Geelong (COGG) is inviting applications from organisations, community groups and individuals to participate as event hosts.<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood said the huge success Geelong-based events experienced at this year\u2019s Melbourne Design Week should make for an exciting inaugural Geelong Design Week.<\/p>\n

He also noted Geelong\u2019s global title as a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) City of Design.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Australia\u2019s only UNESCO City of Design, this will be a great chance to showcase the many clever and creative ideas and people in our city,\u201d Mr Harwood said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expect the week will attract visitors from around Victoria and Australia, as well as international guests from our fellow Cities of Design.\u201d<\/p>\n

The COGG held two free information sessions earlier this week to support people interested in learning more about hosting a Geelong Design Week event.<\/p>\n
