AS part of Men\u2019s Shed Week, the Anglesea and District Men\u2019s Shed is holding an open morning on Tuesday September 24.<\/p>\n
To thank the community for their support, the shed is inviting residents to drop by and share a cup of tea with some of the shed\u2019s members in the recently refurbished building.<\/p>\n
From building a bench for the bike path, to crafting toys for the local kindergarten, the Anglesea Men\u2019s Shed has constantly been looking for ways to help its community since it opened a decade ago.<\/p>\n
Anglesea and District Men\u2019s Shed secretary Jeff Wilson says the shed greatly benefits its members as well as the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are from the community, and we are there to support the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving a strong men\u2019s shed where we support each other helps with mental and physical well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Anglesea Men\u2019s Shed is one of 985 such groups to be part of the Australian Men\u2019s Shed Association (AMSA).<\/p>\n
Each shed varies, but their purpose is to help improve the well-being of men across the country.<\/p>\n
The AMSA say that due to cultural reasons, men are often reluctant to talk about their own well-being, and can subsequently be prone to alcoholism, risk-taking behaviours, isolation and loneliness.<\/p>\n
The AMSA therefore aims to provide a safe and busy environment where members can ensure they build healthy relationships, and contribute to their community.<\/p>\n
Men\u2019s Shed Week is to be celebrated across Australia from September 23-27.<\/p>\n
The shed is located within the Bowls Club precinct on Cameron\u2019s Road Anglesea.<\/p>\n
The Anglesea Shed will be open from 9.15am to 11.30am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
