DRYSDALE were unable to overcome North Geelong in the Division 2 grand final on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The odds were always against Drysdale, with North Geelong having not only gone through the season undefeated, but having done so with a percentage of 1,449.37.<\/p>\n
Coach Stuart Craven said despite losing 26-1, he couldn’t have asked for any more from his side.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was the best game the Lady hawks have put on the field in their three years of competition, everyone played their hearts out and we couldn\u2019t be prouder.\u201d<\/p>\n
Drysdale certainly restricted North Geelong, as the 26 points the eventual winners scored was their lowest tally in any game this season.<\/p>\n
Despite being unable to win the final, it has been a very strong season for Drysdale.<\/p>\n
They finished second on the ladder with North Geelong the only side to defeat them throughout the season.<\/p>\n
Drysdale reached the grand final after defeating St Mary\u2019s in the preliminary final, despite having been five points behind at half-time.<\/p>\n
Both Gabrielle Deller and Melissa Egan were recently named in the AFL Barwon Women’s team of the year, with Egan also kicking the most goals in the league with 61.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
