In the coming weeks Lorne Football Netball Club has the opportunity to become the premiers in both the Colac and District Football Leagues seniors and reserves.
\nClub president Ken Hosking said he was delighted with how the season was going.
\n“We’re very happy with the way the sides have pulled together this year and it’s all due to a lot of people making it happen,” Hosking said.
\n“There’s a little way to go yet but we feel it’s been a very successful year anyway.”
\nLorne finished top of the ladder in the seniors, equal on points with South Colac, but with a far superior percentage.
\nThis earned them a place in the second semi-final, where they defeated South Colac 11.6 (72) to 8.6 (54) to guarantee themselves a place in the grand final.
\nLorne has been an attacking force throughout the season, having scored over 500 more points than any other side.
\nLewis Hollmer has led the way up front for them. He has kicked 74 goals this season at an average of 4.93 goals per game.
\nLorne will play either Apollo Bay or South Colac in the final.
\nIn the reserves they have a chance to also reach the grand final when they play Apollo Bay on the weekend in the preliminary final.
\nAfter finishing second on the ladder, the reserves put in a good performance in the qualifying final, defeating Birregurra 5.10 (40)- 3.6 (24).
\nBut they then struggled in the second semi-final when they faced top-spot Simpson, as they were beaten 10.12 (72) to 3.3 (21).
\nApollo Bay are the form side, having won their last six games, although Lorne have beaten them on the two occasions the sides have met this year.
\nThey will play at Central Reserve at 12:30pm, Saturday August 31.<\/span><\/p>\n
