	{"id":2968,"date":"2017-11-21T00:59:38","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T00:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=2968"},"modified":"2018-01-30T19:06:49","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T08:06:49","slug":"meet-kardinia-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/meet-kardinia-candidates\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet your Kardinia candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE field of candidates is set, and voters in Kardinia Ward should have received their ballot packs for the City of Greater Geelong elections in the mail.<\/p>\n<p>Returning officer Colin Riley is encouraging people to vote as early as possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the whole election being conducted by post, it\u2019s incredibly important voters complete and return their ballot material as soon as possible to make sure their vote counts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>This newspaper sent a questionnaire to all 11 candidates in the Kardinia Ward, and their responses (in ballot draw order) are published on this page and the next page.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Oseckas (drawn first in the ballot) and Elliot C. Taylor (drawn sixth) did not respond.<\/p>\n<p>Ballot papers must be in the mail or hand-delivered to the election office by 6pm on October 27 or they cannot be counted.<\/p>\n<p>Answers have been edited for length. My theatre company Blackibis Productions holds attendance records in Geelong and achieved Melbourne success. Other voluntary roles I have performed are Treasurer, Victoria Day Council, Consultant for the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation.<br \/>\n<strong>Political allegiance?<\/strong> I am a member of the Liberal Party, yet to transfer my membership to Geelong. We rely on individual contributions from supporters.<br \/>\n<strong>Most important issues in your ward?<\/strong> We are experiencing a significant growth in population, which needs to be managed with better infrastructure and services. It\u2019s important the council advocates for better public transport, and improves cycling and walking paths.
