Family, friends and lifesaving colleagues gathered at the Torquay Surf Life Saving Club<\/a> recently to celebrate the life of Torquay resident Geoff \u201cRocky\u201d McCoppin, who passed away in August.<\/p>\n

Mr McCoppin left a legacy virtually unsurpassed in the life saving organisation over the past 60 years. His entrepreneurial flair helped raise thousands of dollars for life saving equipment for the Torquay beaches.<\/p>\n

McCoppin competed in surf boat racing as a young man in the late 1950s before committing to the management of the club and was awarded life membership in 1995.<\/p>\n
