<\/p>\nTHE RACV Cape Schanck Resort has earned Kane Constructions the top honour as Master Builder of the Year (Commercial) at the Master Builders Excellence in Construction Awards held recently in Melbourne.
\nBefore a crowd of over 630 guests, Kane Constructions accepted the highest accolade for a commercial project, the RACV Cape Schanck Resort, an exceptionally complex project that relied heavily on the company\u2019s site management and project engineering teams.<\/p>\n
The project, which has similarities to the Torquay RACV Resort, and sited in a coastal location exposed to wind and weather from the Bass Strait, and sand dune-like soil conditions which made executing the curved structure and fa\u00e7ade elements a special challenge.
\n\u201cThe precision and control required to deliver a structure like this on such difficult terrain is truly impressive,\u201d Master Builders Victoria CEO Rebecca Casson says.
\n\u201cThis award testifies to the excellence of the team at Kane Constructions for the way in which they achieved nuance and precision on a building site that most of us would consider a moving target, subject to the whims of weather and exposure,\u201d she said.
\nAlso honoured at the awards was Alex Wilson, of Harris HMC Construction Pty, named Young Builder of the Year.<\/p>\n
Alex is a driven young man who is eager and capable, always prepared to tackle projects of great responsibility.<\/p>\n
Alex demonstrates natural leadership and prides himself on working collaboratively and delivering projects to the highest standard.
\n\u201cAlex represents the remarkable and essential achievements of younger people in our industry\u2019s workforce, and the pool of talent from which future leaders in Victorian building and construction will continue to emerge,\u201d Ms Casson said.
\nKane Fairbrother (a joint venture) was named Regional Commercial Builder of the Year for its work on Rivergum Residential Treatment Centre, in Ararat.<\/p>\n
Rivergum is a secure, 20-bed facility that provides short-term treatment for offenders, on supervision orders.<\/p>\n
The facility includes 20 cottage-style units, administration buildings, a multifaith chapel, recreational spaces, landscaping and supporting infrastructure.
\n\u201cKane Fairbrother has constructed living quarters that respond well to a difficult program challenge, blending institutional rigour with environmental awareness for both residents and the community the building serves,\u201d Ms Casson said.
\nKane Constructions will now go on to compete at the Master Builders Association National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards at Uluru on 22 November.<\/p>\n
