However, it\u2019s easy to get caught up in the moment when you\u2019re looking at display homes \u2014 so before you get started, it\u2019s best to be armed with some questions. Is the builder local?<\/strong><\/p>\n You want a builder that knows the region, the landscapes and uses the best local tradespeople for the job.<\/p>\n How long has the builder been operating?<\/strong><\/p>\n You need an experienced builder as planning and timing is everything when you build a home. And you don\u2019t get that deep understanding of the industry without experience.<\/p>\n What is the building process? <\/strong><\/p>\n This question is so important \u2014 by understanding how the building process works, you\u2019ll be able to stay in the loop throughout the building of your home and ask the questions that need to be asked at the right time.<\/p>\n What changes can be made to floorplans?<\/strong><\/p>\n Some builders don\u2019t allow for any changes to their standard floor plans, some offer changes but with a big price jump that you often don\u2019t see in the upfront costings.<\/p>\n What is included as standard?<\/strong><\/p>\n What you see isn\u2019t necessarily what you\u2019ll get. Much of what you see on display isn\u2019t what the builder offers as standard.<\/p>\n It\u2019s important to ask what fittings and finishes, paint, laminate and carpet, comes standard with the home, and understand how this compares to the other builders\u2019 inclusions.<\/p>\n
