THE Surf Coast Shire Council has recently announced it is offering grants for people organising events and activities.<\/p>\n
Council’s Small Grants and Event Grants programs look to foster a tighter community by helping people grow and develop certain events and activities.<\/p>\n
Shire mayor Rose Hodge said she had been encouraged by what the grants had previously helped residents achieve.<\/p>\n
“Earlier this year we handed out grants for a range of programs and activities \u2013 from swing dancing, to arts supplies at local community houses. It’s heartening to see the great work the recipients are doing in our community.”<\/p>\n
The Small Grants Program offers up to $5,000 for programs and activities that help strengthen the community. The categories for this grant are recreation and leisure, community initiatives, culture and arts, and environment.<\/p>\n
The Event Grants program provides up to $5,000 for community events and $10,000 for major events that will be held between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.<\/p>\n
Ms Hodge said the events the grants supported helped build a more inclusive community.<\/p>\n
“The community groups which are successful in the Small Grants play a key role in fostering a community where everyone can participate and contribute.<\/p>\n
“Events \u2013 whether big or small \u2013 give our vibrant economy a huge boost year-round. They’ve helped cement the Surf Coast Shire as an events destination.”<\/p>\n
Applications for both grants are open throughout September. All applicants must speak with a Council officer on 5261 0600 before submitting an
