MEMBER for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman has confirmed that Oberon High School will keep its name when it relocates to Armstrong Creek in 2021.<\/p>\n
Mr Cheeseman, who made the announcement last Tuesday, said the move is part of the Andrews Labor Government\u2019s education building boom which sets out to deliver 100 new schools by 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new school will give local students in the area modern, state of the art facilities and better technology to inspire learning, creative thinking and empower them to succeed,\u201d Mr Cheeseman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight across the state we\u2019re building new schools to make sure that no matter where they live, every child has the chance to get a great education.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the school is currently under construction, in the interim it had been referred to as Armstrong Creek Secondary College. The new Oberon High School has been designed to meet the demands of the area\u2019s growing population.<\/p>\n
It will cater to 1100 students and form part of the Armstrong Creek Education Precinct by neighbouring Armstrong Creek School.<\/p>\n
The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1400 school upgrades, which has supported over 7500 construction jobs across the state.<\/p>\n
The commitment will see 100 new schools open their doors between 2019 and 2026, with 14 estimated for completion in 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
