THE Anglesea Memorial Hall will host the 49th annual Wildflower and Art Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
There will be plenty for visitors to enjoy in addition to art and wildflower displays.<\/p>\n
Visitors have the opportunity to take guided walks and bus tours to visit the bushland and flora reserves so they can see indigenous flowers in their natural habitat.<\/p>\n
These activities come at no extra cost to the small entry fee.<\/p>\n
Event co-ordinator Wendy Crebbin says she is confident it will be a fantastic weekend.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to lots of visitors and lots of people taking part in all the activities, including the free guided tours.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each day there are about a dozen different walks and guided tours that focus on different parts of the environment.<\/p>\n
Visitors will be able to purchase native plants, books, cards and various forms of craftwork.<\/p>\n
There will also be a insect, spider and scorpion displays and the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC) will provide a range of environmentally themed activities for children.<\/p>\n
The Anglesea and District Historical Society will have a display showing the history of the Great Ocean Road.<\/p>\n
A display titled \u201cThen and Now\u201d will show the changes in local landscapes over time.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s show saw more than 2,000 people attend over the weekend, including 500 children.<\/p>\n
Prizes will be given for Best Exhibit, Most Creative Work, Best Flora\/Fauna Study, Best Australian Natural Environment Study and Best Botanical Work.<\/p>\n
Presentations for these awards will be held on Sunday at 3.15pm.<\/p>\n
The show is open on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22 from 10am-4pm on both days.<\/p>\n
Entry fees are $5 for adults, $2 for students and pensioners, with children free.<\/p>\n
