{"id":30750,"date":"2019-10-09T13:36:10","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T03:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=30750"},"modified":"2019-10-10T08:13:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-09T22:13:44","slug":"timeline-of-classics-at-the-potato-shed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/timeline-of-classics-at-the-potato-shed\/","title":{"rendered":"Timeline of classics at the Potato Shed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Opera and ballroom will collide in a gracious performance titled From Broadway to Ballroom at the Potato Shed this month as part of the Geelong Seniors Festival. <\/p>\n<p>Audiences can expect an artistic display of ballroom, opera and classical melodies as seasoned opera performers Liza Beamish and Lachlan Baker star alongside dance champions Emma and Rhett Salmon for this spectacular show. <\/p>\n<p>Songs include \u201cCrazy Little Thing Called Love\u201d, The Phantom of the Opera\u2019s \u201cAll I Ask of You\u201d, \u201cBring Him Home\u201d from Les Miserables, \u201cMerry Widow Waltz\u201d by Franz Lehar, Puccini\u2019s \u201cNessun Dorma\u201d from Turandot, My Fair Lady\u2019s \u201cI Could have Danced All Night\u201d, \u201cYou Raise Me Up\u201d and operatic arias from Rigoletto and La Traviata by Verdi.<\/p>\n<p>Emma and Rhett\u2019s renowned dancing style includes jive, tango quickstep and waltz, with both performers locked in to deliver featured solos as well as a visual accompaniment for the singers. <\/p>\n<p>From Broadway to Ballroom is set against star cloth and showcases evocative lighting, a mirror ball, smoke machine and glamorous costumes and gowns. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur audience loved the combination of vocal performance and dance in this unique show. The resounding theme in comments from the audience was \u2018more, please!\u2019\u201d \u2013 Scott O\u2019Hara, Sutherland Entertainment centre manager. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA treat for the eyes as well as the ears.
