ANTICIPATION is mounting for Geelong\u2019s first official Big Bash game, with tickets going on sale for the January 3 double-header this week.<\/p>\n
The BBL and WBBL games at Kardinia Park will be between the Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Sixers, and will have a \u201cKids Day Out\u201d theme sponsored by Nickelodeon.<\/p>\n
Renegades players Brad Hogg (pictured getting slimed) and Sophie Molineux visited Geelong on Tuesday and were given the signature Nickelodeon \u201cslime\u201d treatment on Tuesday with some assistance from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Leonardo and Raphael. On Tuesday, the Renegades also launched a special Geelong Membership package, which includes a reserved seat for the Geelong match and a general admission ticket to one of the Renegades\u2019 home games at Etihad stadium.<\/p>\n
Hogg \u2013 who is recovering from a knee injury and will again play for Geelong\u2019s Victorian Premier Cricket side this season \u2013 said tickets would be hard to get for latecomers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are only 30,000 seats in this stadium, the Renegades average a crowd of 31,000, so if you want to be here on January 3 for the double-header, you better get your tickets pretty quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n
Molineux said she was looking forward to playing alongside newly appointed Renegades captain and NZ international player Amy Satterthwaite.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmy was terrible to play against last year; she was all over us \u2013 so it\u2019s great to be in the same team as her.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kardinia Park Stadium Trust chair Michael Brown said he looked forward to hosting the Big Bash party.<\/p>\n
