{"id":31702,"date":"2019-11-14T00:00:23","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T14:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=31702"},"modified":"2020-10-07T13:09:11","modified_gmt":"2020-10-07T03:09:11","slug":"a-night-on-the-town-sir-rod-stewart-to-perform-in-geelong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/a-night-on-the-town-sir-rod-stewart-to-perform-in-geelong\/","title":{"rendered":"A night on the town: Sir Rod Stewart to perform in Geelong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sir Rod Stewart will croon his way into the hearts of fans at Mount Duneed Estate next year as he journeys down under for an eight-date tour. <\/p>\n<p>The British rocker is set to return to A Day on the Green and deliver his first performance at the Geelong winery, a venue that has quickly built a reputation for securing big name acts including Florence and the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sir Elton John and Cold Chisel. <\/p>\n<p>This year Sir Rod celebrates 50 years a solo performer, selling more than 250 million records worldwide since he first reached out and touched the lives of his loyal followers from around the globe. <\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s had 27 Top 40 hits in Australia, ticking off four number one singles as well as seven number one albums on the Aussie charts. <\/p>\n<p>He was knighted at Buckingham Palace in 2016 for his services to music and charity.<\/p>\n<p>The 74-year-old \u201cForever Young\u201d singer holds the record for the largest-ever free concert \u2013 attracting an estimated 4.2 million people to his show at Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro on New Year\u2019s Eve in the mid-1990s.  <\/p>\n<p>He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once for his time with Faces, the second for his solo work. <\/p>\n<p>Tickets to Sir Rod Stewart at A Day on the Green will be available on November 22 (9am local time) via <a href=\"http:\/\/ticketmaster.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ticketmaster.com.au<\/a>, the same day his new album is released. <\/p>\n<p>Members will have access to pre-sale tickets on November 21 at 12pm local time. He will play at Mt Duneed Estate on October 31.
