THE Anglesea Men’s Shed had their official reopening on November 19 following significant refurbishments.<\/p>\n

The upgrades on the lot at Cameron Road include a new main entry, separate metal working area, a large community room and a quiet space for members to support each other’s health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Victorian Senator Sarah Henderson was present to cut the ribbon on the shed’s entrance and officially announce it had re-opened.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
She said Men’s Sheds had benefits for both members and their communities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“Men’s Sheds have become such a vital part of our communities. As well as bringing men together to work on meaningful projects, one of the great successes of Men’s Sheds is the forum they provide to address challenges with men’s health, well-being and<\/div>\n
friendships.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The shed’s refurbishments were largely enabled by $20,000 from the state government and $10,000 from the federal government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Men’s Shed also took the re-opening as an opportunity to give to others as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Shed convener Ross Davey presented the Anglesea Fire Brigade with a hose winder, the Anglesea and Aireys Inlet Foodlink program with a $500 cheque for Christmas hampers, and the Anglesea RSL with a $2,000 cheque to go towards the Anglesea War Memorial Trust Fund.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney said she believed in aiding the men’s shed the state government was supporting a very good cause.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“I am proud that the Anglesea Men’s Shed improvements will encourage social inclusion and improve the health and wellbeing of more men in our community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“Men’s sheds are productive spaces that encourage men to meet people, work with others on shared projects, and give back to their community.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The Anglesea Men’s Shed is one of more than 360 Men’s Sheds across Victoria.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
