Gifts for the Table is a joint exhibition of still life works from Kylie Sirett and Alexandra Lewisohn. Unique arrangements of both flowers and fruit are captured to create reflection, gratitude and a different perspective.<\/p>\n
Alexandra Lewisohn of Daylesford returns from a small break from painting, inspired by the cottage garden she has lovingly created over time.<\/p>\n
Her quarter of an acre garden has been designed around colour schemes and views to be painted. Spring provides an explosion of flowers, and blossoms in all shapes, colours and textures. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe rich volcanic soil means there is always something to pick and paint and I have thoroughly enjoyed capturing the fine detail on an intimate scale that the gouache on the small ply panels has allowed,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
From her Melbourne studio, Kylie Sirett draws inspiration for her still life works in oils from her immediate surroundings. Using readily available produce, Kylie attempts to capture the beauty and her appreciation of what\u2019s around us every day.<\/p>\n
Using a combination of carefully selected, natural forms, Kylie draws attention to light and its effect on surfaces and textures. Her strong compositions highlight the aesthetic beauty though colour and form, and in the process create food for thought. <\/p>\n
