A VICTORIAN Fitness Academy student from Geelong has won a state nursing award for her efforts in understanding ethical and professional nursing practice. <\/p>\n
Mount Duneed\u2019s Ebony Young scored this year\u2019s Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) award for Victoria, which will be officially presented at ANMF\u2019s annual general meeting next month in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
The 21-year-old, who was nominated by head of nursing and health at VFA Learning Charisse Spence, said she was humbled to have been recognised for her strengths in the field. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very grateful that VFA Learning identified that I was a suitable candidate for this prestigious award. I feel that all of my hard work over the past year has paid off, and I\u2019m looking forward to seeing what the future holds,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed studying at VFA Learning because of their great support network. I\u2019ve made some lifelong friendships, which has made class and lab time more enjoyable. The trainers are also a standout for me, offering great support and advice whenever I needed it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Young said she hoped to study at Deakin University to become a registered nurse upon graduating from VFA Learning next year. She also intends to work in rural areas as well as oncology or palliative care. <\/p>\n
Ms Spence said Ms Young\u2019s caring nature and commitment to nursing practice was to be lauded. <\/p>\n
\u201cEbony has demonstrated consistent excellence in nursing practice throughout the course. We have found her to be caring, thoughtful, and understanding.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer assessment tasks have all been completed to a high standard, and in the simulation lab for her practical assessments, Ebony was always well prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
