INVESTIGATIVE journalist Jess Hill will put domestic violence perpetrators \u2013 and the systems that enable them \u2013 in the spotlight when she speaks at COPACC next week.<\/p>\n

In Ms Hill\u2019s book See What You Made Me Do<\/em>, she dives deep into the abuse that so many women and children experience, and argues that we can drastically reduce domestic violence not in
\ngenerations to come, but today.<\/p>\n

COPACC has engaged Ms Hill to speak as part of funding received under Creative Victoria\u2019s Full House Audience Development Program.<\/p>\n

COPACC Full House project co-ordinator Nat Atherden said the funding gave COPACC an opportunity to broaden its offering beyond on-stage performances.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really grateful to have funding to bring Jess to COPACC, to share her perspectives on domestic violence gained from writing and researching about domestic violence since 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cSee What You Made Me Do<\/em> is a gripping book about power, control and domestic abuse that goes deep inside the minds of abusers to understand the complex factors that fuel their abuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne in four Australian women has experienced violence from a man she was intimate with. Jess argues that too often we ask \u2018Why didn\u2019t she leave?\u2019 when we should be asking \u2018Why did he do it?\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before working on her book, Ms Hill was a producer on ABC Radio, a Middle East correspondent for The Global Mail, and an investigative journalist on Background Briefing. She was listed in Foreign Policy\u2019s top 100 women to follow on Twitter.<\/p>\n

Ms Hill will speak in the COPACC Civic Hall on December 5 at 7pm. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for concession, and are available from copacc.vic.gov.au <\/a>or from the COPACC Box Office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
