{"id":32838,"date":"2019-12-26T00:00:44","date_gmt":"2019-12-25T14:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=32838"},"modified":"2019-12-24T10:44:38","modified_gmt":"2019-12-24T00:44:38","slug":"award-anzac-spirit-alive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/award-anzac-spirit-alive\/","title":{"rendered":"Award keeps Anzac spirit alive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Anglesea RSL has presented the inaugural Spirit of Anzac Awards to two local primary schools.<\/p>\n<div>Both Anglesea Primary School and Aireys Inlet Primary School were involved with the award due to their continued support of the Anglesea RSL and their recognition of those who served and continue to serve their country in times of conflict.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>The award looks to keep the Anzac spirit alive by recognising mateship and selflessness. The schools themselves were able to choose how they celebrated these values.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>At Anglesea Primary School, Tae McGillivray received the award, with her willingness to help others and positive attitude the reasons for her receiving the award and $500 with it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Anglesea RSL secretary Angela Hunt and vice-president Ian &#8220;Drum&#8221; Drummond presented her with the award in front of her classmates and school principal Murray Surkitt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Aireys Inlet Primary School pupils received the award as a whole, with the money going towards books and equipment.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Anglesea RSL has presented the inaugural Spirit of Anzac Awards to two local primary schools.
