NEXT year\u2019s Summer by the Sea program is locked in to appeal to families far and wide, with bookings for each activity now open. <\/p>\n

The 25th annual summer program \u2013 made possible thanks to Coastcare Victoria and Parks Victoria \u2013 will deliver more than 300 activities along Victoria\u2019s coastline. <\/p>\n

The initiative aims to encourage people of all ages to explore the region\u2019s coastal and marine environments. <\/p>\n

New activities for Geelong, the Bellarine and Surf Coast in 2020 include:<\/p>\n

– Shark Detectives \u2013 educational sessions at the Queenscliff Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre
\n– Split Point Lighthouse tours \u2013 covering maritime history and lighthouse operation
\n– Birdwatching at Limeburners Bay \u2013 learn about the unique birdlife at a local wetland<\/p>\n

Local activities returning to the program include fossil safaris at Point Addis and Aireys Inlet, surfing lessons at Anglesea and rockpool rambles along Surf Coast and Bellarine beaches.<\/p>\n

Coastcare Victoria coordinator Adam Taylor said the free program was a fantastic opportunity for people to explore and appreciate Victoria\u2019s coastline while learning about the challenges faced by the region\u2019s coastal areas. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis free program has something for everyone – whether it be a scenic coastal tour, a fun filled wildlife activity or a rockpool ramble for the whole family,\u201d Mr Taylor said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWith events spanning across Victoria\u2019s coastline, Summer by the Sea attracts thousands of people every year and we\u2019re expecting the 2020 program to be another huge success.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bookings for activities can be made at summerbythesea.vic.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n

People with special needs who would require assistance to take part in Summer by the Sea 2020 can contact Coastcare Victoria to discuss how staff can help them participate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
