{"id":33065,"date":"2020-01-02T15:55:46","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T05:55:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=33065"},"modified":"2020-01-02T15:59:26","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T05:59:26","slug":"mads-petersen-great-ocean-road-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/mads-petersen-great-ocean-road-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Mads Pedersen is raring to go for Great Ocean Road Race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE reigning UCI Road World Champion will will test his skills on Geelong\u2019s roads and hills, with Mads Pedersen confirming he is saddling up for Race Torquay in this year\u2019s Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (CEGORR).<\/p>\n<p>Pedersen, part of the Trek-Segafredo team, clinched the World Road Race Championship in September.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish cyclist said it would be \u201csuper nice\u201d to bring the champion\u2019s rainbow jersey, also won by Cadel Evans in 2009, to Victoria \u201cmost of all because it\u2019s white &#8211; a black jersey would be super-hot in Australia!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I\u2019m pretty happy to bring a beautiful white jersey for you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said he was looking forward to the spectators and the race environment at the 13-kilometre Race Torquay circuit, which has a UCI 1.1. ranking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s super nice to start that early in the season and people are so excited to see us racing there, so it\u2019s nice for us also to have that feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome out, watch us race; there\u2019ll be some good fireworks that day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CEGORR has maintained its status not only on the UCI WorldTour but as the second event on the race calendar, a week after the five-day Tour Down Under.
