GREAT Ocean Road Cyclists (GORC) is holding their fundraising auction dinner on January 16 to raise money for Great Ocean Road Health (GORH).<\/p>\n

This is the first of three major fundraising events GORC are holding in 2020. GORC will also be raising funds at the Murray to Moyne in April, and Lorne 2 Lorne later in the year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
After discussion with GORH, they have decided all the money they raise this year will go to the professional training and development of the urgent care services in GORH’s Lorne and Apollo Bay facilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Event organiser Jane Clifton said they had been very deliberate with where they were sending the money.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“Often donation money goes towards equipment or infrastructure, and we’d like it to go to the people and their ongoing development, because that benefits everyone.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The auction dinner is open to everyone and includes about 50 items that have been donated from various businesses and individuals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
These include tour-operated bike holidays, wines from local wineries and a range of biking equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Some will be sold off by an auctioneer, and others will available through a silent auction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Ms Clifton says supporting GORH is just one way GORC promote healthy living.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“We want to encourage healthy lifestyle and good health and wellbeing. We want people to join us even if they’re novice riders and we’ll offer them the chance to be coached.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
GORC is also starting to hold off-road cycling events. These are designed to be accessible to a wide range of people, including families and children. They have also recently started a walking group.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
People looking to join the group can do so by heading to facebook.com\/groups\/www.gorc.club.<\/div>\n
\nThe dinner will be held at The Lorne Hotel from 6pm with entree and main provided. The cost is $50 per head.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
